TRACING MAINE LUDERS

I wonder if anyone might know the whereabouts of any of these Luders =
which were purchased new (most in 1946) for the Northeast Harbor Fleet, =
Mount Desert Island, Maine?

1) NEH #1, Ripple, hull # 752, last record 1952.

2) NEH #2, Overdue, hull # 771, last record 1958.

3) NEH # 4, Poseidon, hull l# 765, last record 1971.

4) NEH # 5, Hasty Hart, hull # 756, last record 1954.

5) NEH # 6, Romp, hull # 766, last record 1987, but remained in MDI =
area for several years.

6) NEH # 8, Frolic, hull # 767, last record 1985, may be in Maine.

7) NEH # 11, Shooting Star, hull ?# 760, last record 1963.

8) NEH, # 13, Andvari, hull # 764, last record 1977.

9) NEH # 14, Woodwind, hull # 754, last record 1983.

10) NEH # 15, Eluder, hull # 755, last record 1977.

11) NEH # 17, West Wind, hull # 758, last record 1958.

12, NEH # 18, Hotspur, hull # ??, last record 1948.

13) NEH # 19, Seawolf, hull # 769, last record 1975.

14) NEH # 20, Quiver, hull # 757, last record 1978.

15) NEH # 23, Morning Star, hull # 80l, last record 1977.

16) NEH # 27, Raven, hull # 982, last record 1989 (NY Boat Show - =
1958).

As menioned in a recent posting, Luders racing was revived last summer =
on Mount Desert Island, Maine after a hiatus of about 20 years. Five =
boats participated. We hope that number might double for the coming =
season.

Any information about the whereabouts of these boats would be greatly =
appreciated. Information is being collected for a fleet history.

As mentioned earlier, too, the fleet is looking for boats for sale =
should anyone have any leads.

Not sure if anyone keeps records, but three local Luders no longer =
exist. NEH # 9, Aethe, hull # 761, was dropped by a crane several =
years ago and was broken beyond repair. Bar Harbor # 56, originally =
Salty, hull # 806, owned by writer Norman Mailer, was burned in a boat =
yard fire. A third NEH Luders simply disappeared from its mooring and =
was never found - not sure of the name. Yet.
