OUT TO PASTURE
Is There Any Hope?
Sturgis Haskins
Fleet Secretary
Mount Desert Island Luders Fleet, Maine
It is rare indeed when I receive a communication from the Luders
e-network. If memory serves me correctly, my occasional missives are
the single contributions that seem to appear. Granted, Luders racing is
somewhat diminished these days, but, still, there seems to be some
activity here and there. The following might be suggested:
1) Someone report on the activities of each surviving fleet. I will
give an end-of-season account of the Luders racing on Mount Desert
Island, Maine, in a week or so (when the records are in hand).
2) An update for the plans for the Luders Internationals - which may
have been postponed until spring.
3) A report from the class president or secretary - if, indeed, there
are such people.
4) Perhaps even a report from the person who oversees this newsgroup.
I would be interested in knowing how many subscribers there are, for
example.
5) If Luders fleets have disbanded, do subscribers know of boats for
sale?
6) Actually, I would enjoy a report by Bob Wallstrom, the Luders Marine
Construction Company historian, of his effort to locate sundry Luders,
especially L-16's. I wonder how many still exist?
