[L16-usa] Luders Nationals

RE:  LUDERS NATIONALS - CHICAGO
        August 2005

I cannot speak for our fleet officially, but the date as set is right
smack in the middle of our most competitive racing month.  

Most of our Luders owners come here from distant places on vacation in
July and August.  They would be loath to leave during that period for
any reason. August is also the month of our three most important
regattas.

As mentioned earlier, Mount Desert Luders racers did not participate in
class events off the island from 1947 to 2003  largely for that very
reason.

Perhaps our good  Chicago friends might reconsider their scheduled date.
The Maine Luders fleet seems to be the largest and most active in the
class now.  It would be unfortunate if they were unable to participate
in this event.  The class, the nationals, need the renewed energy and
enthusiasm a revived and growing fleet would bring to it..
