There is a guy named Elk in Bar Harbor who has done beautiful work on wood
Luders. He certainly could manufacture a boom. The fleet on Mount Desert
Island has a mixture of wood and aluminum masts, but some of them have been
refitted with wood masts beautifully by Jim Elk. (You could google Elk Boat Yard
in Bar Harbor).
Cape Cod Shipbuilding/Zephyr will manufacture an aluminum one for you. I
personally don't think the price is bad, and the shipping would be easy for
you. I need a new aluminum mast in Maine and the shipping is a challenge.
One of the more knowledgeable people about Luders 16's is Sturgis Haskins
(_rugosa at acadia.net_ (mailto:rugosa at acadia.net) ). He might be able to help
you on dating etc.
Best wishes. A couple of us have a fiberglass L16 which we are hoping to
get into the water for the first time in a number of years.
